lobster love

Good Morning!

So I'm not sure if you got the memo but lobsters are definitely the new owl which was obviously the new fox - or something like that. Either way these sweaters are pretty cute, but as much as I'd love to rock the lobster look {anyone else want to yell "rock lobster"} I don't think I'm on board with the steep prices.

Take a peek below & decide for yourself.

Not a fan of the sweaters?
Try this {rock} lobster on for size.

I am very excited about today's post, because am I am sure you have all realized I love wearing comfy clothes. When this graphic & dressy sweatshirt trend started I couldn't wait to load up on sweats. Now I can be comfortable {& warm} while still making sure people aren't embarassed to claim me in public.

Markus Lupfer has been leading the charge in the graphic sweats department, but his price is way too steep for me {even though they are sooooo cute!}. Regardless of your budget, there are plenty of options available.

hang in there - we're half way to the weekend!

desire + acquire
desire: trench // bracelet // pashli bag // shoes
acquire: coat // necklace // earrings // scarf // top // clutch // shoes

Last week Pantone announced the 2013 Color of the Year is Emerald, which I am very excited about {especially after Tangerine Tango bleh}. Obviously it would be pretty easy to find some seriously gorgeous items to bring a little emerald into my wardrobe, ya know if I had an unlimited budget. I think it's clear that is not the case, so I've tracked down some of the cutest & wizard of oz-iest emerald green pieces I could find.

Just for a little perspective here's the total purchase price for each side of the board:

Desire -
$36,819 {nope, not a typo}
Acquire - $361 {for all of it!}

How 'bout them apples?

Now head out & scoop up some emerald!

In case you missed the memo, layering necklaces of varying lengths is a fun & trendy way to update any outfit. I love these coral shaped necklaces because they are interesting without being huge or dominating and they still feel airy & organic. I have been on the hunt for the perfect coral necklace. I've seen cheaper versions & they were exactly that - cheap. This necklace is definitely something worth investing in, now I don't mean spend hundreds {or even $100} on this, but finding a beautiful, quality piece will make all the difference. This necklace can really transcend the seasons & trends and become a staple or signature piece in your wardrobe.

Stella & Dot offer some really beautiful jewelry options ranging from classics styles in gold & silver to bright, colorful trendy pieces. Sure they cost a little bit more than some other more disposable brands, but when it comes to statement pieces such as this quality really does matter.  If you're interested in purchasing the necklaces above or just interested in seeing what else is available, click through here.

If you're looking for holiday gift ideas, stella & dot offers options at every price point and
has super quick shipping so you will be sure get your order in time for gift giving.

Want even more?

Stay tuned for details on our upcoming Baubles, Blogs & Brunch event happening
 December 1st @ Market in Rocky River {that's Ohio}. I will be there for a little meet &
greet and to offer gift & styling ideas with Stella & Dot's amazing collection.

The event is open to everyone, stay tuned for details!

Now that the temperature around here has plummeted all I can think about is staying warm {yes, I realize how dramatic this sounds}. I recently checked out the Gap's winter offerings and was totally impressed. The options above are only a small sampling of colors & styles available.  Best of all, when I get bundled up I won't be worried about looking like this guy...

Honestly, I have not found a store that offers more cute & affordable warm options. I mean look at that stuff... so many color options, completely on trend {army parkas, fur trim, snoods!!!} & who doesn't live near a Gap.

So if you're sick of choosing between looking like a hobo & freezing your butt off, but don't want to break the bank, consider your friendly neighborhood Gap.

Be sure to check out the chic curator on facebook, where i'll be posting discount codes & save even more on your winter wardrobe!

Stay Warm!

{I have not been compensated by the Gap or the abominable snowman,
just love their products & thought the furry guy could use a shout out}

{one, two, three, four & five}

I absolutely loved this look when I saw Kate at London Fashion Week. It's quirky & classic at the same time. Unfortunately, Kate's outfit is comprised of mostly Burberry and other high end {read: $$$$} pieces. The options above create a similar look for a fraction of the cost. The sweater is my favorite and you cannot beat the price point. Not feeling the owl? It also comes in fox & sheep. Also here's another great option for the skirt and it's even cheaper at only $39!

Don't forget to check the chic curator facebook page for discount codes & save even more on this outfit.

desire + acquire
one, two, three, four {similar here &here}, five & six
Hello & welcome to desire + acquire.

In this series I will be taking outfit inspirations, mostly street style & looks I've pinned to my "what to wear" board and recreating them with affordable and accessible options. Now the purpose of this segment is not to see how low we can go on price. It's about balancing staple & foundation pieces with trendy or season specific items.

More likely than not, these "acquisition" pieces will be significantly less expensive than their "desirable" counterparts. This is simply the result of people spending too much money instead of hunting for cheaper {but still chic} alternatives.

To be perfectly honest, there really isn't any piece in today's post that I wouldn't recommend investing in. If you really love the anorak, there are heavier weight options {for example} that you should consider purchasing. Alternatively, if you like it's something you will only wear a few times, definitely go with the more frugal choice. Same things goes for the other pieces - I absolutely believe that skinny black pants, a white blouse or a cute & dressy{ish} sweatshirt are things that should always be in your closet. Some may think that leopard shoes are not what you would call an "investment" piece, but I disagree. These are wedges so much more comfortable {aka versatile} then heels and if paired just right the leopard print can actually be styled as a neutral.

Keep checking back {and on my pinterest boards} as this series will be a regular here at the chic curator.  If you have a street or celeb style look you think would be great for this segment, let me know & I'll give it a shot.

Good Morning Luvies!
i wanted to squeeze this round in while it's still October {breast cancer awareness month} because the Ann Taylor bracelet, the "spend" option has a beautiful pink clasp and a portion of the proceeds go the breast cancer research.

How do i know this? i have this bracelet & i love it, plus it's for a good cause.
So if it's in your budget maybe decide to "spend".
{i was not compensated for this post, just telling it like it is}

splurge, spend, steal will be making an appearance here every Wednesday,
 so if you have any requests email me at thechiccurator@gmail.com.
